There’s two kinds of food instagrammers: ones that discover food & ones that make food. In this post, I’ll be sharing with you five food bloggers, each with a super unique style who I think truly stand out in the foodie world. I will be covering Instagrammers with followings ranging from 50K to 600K. Hope this inspires you in your foodie journey <3
Foodies That Discover Food
@eatswithanthony – Anthony “the puns speak for themselves”
He drew me in with his PUNS. I know, of all things! Anthony’s account has a 50.7k following and 615 posts as of this writing. The clarity in his food posts are incredible, so you can tell a lot of effort has been made to single-out the food to crystal-clear dslr quality. The background always changes, sometimes the food is plated on the table, sometimes in the hand, sometimes it’s an action shot of someone else playing with the food. Each caption is ON-POINT. Anthony’s account is the perfect example of a blogger’s personality shining through a foodie IG. The guy is cheeky and his puns are contagious. He posts every other day, and is engaged with his fans.
@thehungrygentleman – Kevin “labels on everything”
I can identify this guy’s style a mile away. Standing out from most foodies, he labels all of his food in his photos, which I think is so great! 72.6k followers and 544 posts at the time of this writing. He tries to post everyday and has informative captions which talk about both the food and his life situation. All of his photos have his distinctive style: labeled food, different kicks (he keeps it fashionable), the ground is the background, bright food colors… and whatever he can fit in his left hand.
@foodbabyny – Mike “babies, babies, BABIES”
An instagram with cute toddlers and delicious food, how does that not get popular? To add to that, Food Baby NY often posts toddlers making the funniest expressions next to what appears to be huge portions of food. At 266k followers and 6,532 posts, Food Baby is well known in the foodie community. After scanning the post frequency… I come to the realization that this guy posts several times a day! I’m inclined to believe that he goes out for every meal, lol. I hope his stomach can handle it. Also, he probably lives on Instagram.
Foodies that Make Food
@vickiee_yo – Vickie “character cookies to dominate the world”
I don’t follow a lot of bakers or cooks in general, but this GIRL… her food is so colorful, original, and adorable. She takes inspiration from pop culture, cartoons, and your favorite childhood characters: from Totoro cookies to Winnie the Pooh donuts. With 302k followers and 852 posts, she is no joke. She doesn’t post all that regularly, but my best guess is between 2-5 days. However, each photo creation/baked good is guaranteed to be unique and cute. Backgrounds are simple, either white bg or of a city that she’s traveling to. The cookies she bakes take center stage, mostly flatlayed to perfection.
@naturally.jo – Jose “galaxy smoothie bowls”
I don’t know anything about Jose besides that this a 16-year old vegan teenager, per the profile bio. As far as I know, neither does his 672k fanbase. He appears to use Instagram as his primary platform to share his recipes. Jose makes very colorful, healthy breakfast foods and dessert. He has a particular affinity for galaxy-colored smoothie bowls with frozen fruits. Food clearly takes center stage (very colorful) and background is often gray – it has a studio-like setting. Jose posts daily, often with short captions except for sharing recipes from time to time. If food is art, art is Jose’s account.

Instagram is absolutely saturated with food photos! The term that developed, “foodie”, now pretty much covers anyone who eats, has a smartphone, and don’t like sharing their face on social media… at least that’s what Instagram has been telling me. That’s why it’s important to find a unique style for your instagram feed more than anything if your goal is for a casual browsing individual to recognize your foodie gram. You were probably that foodie who stood on the chair in the restaurant with your DSLR in the effort to capture the perfect food flatlay, so don’t let your efforts get wasted!
I’ve seen most of these Instagrammers post about once every other day in terms of posting intervals. But when it comes to food, it’s not uncommon to see posts more than once a day as well.
I personally love posts where the caption is informative. They tell me everything I need to know about how the food tastes, how much it is, and tips. And if you’re punny like Anthony, it’s so fun to see tidbits of your personality in it.
I think this is just a standard in the Instagram of today, but the photos that draw your attention are purposeful shots with good lighting. I think it’s a good practice to find a good natural light source whether you take phones with your phone or pro camera 😀
Hope this was informative and fun to read!
Hey I don’t claim to be an authority on Instagram or growth marketing… but I am obsessed with analyzing good feeds! Comment below if there’s more categories you’d like to see an analysis of. I’m also fascinated with certain brands that garner a lot of Instagram attention with good marketing, as well as wedding photographers and artists who post on Instagram.
