Struggling to grow your brand? If there’s one quote will be on my mind going forward in 2018, it is what Maya Angelou uttered:
I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will not forget how you made them feel.
Not only will I apply this to my life, but it’s something that brands should put serious thought into. I truly believe that this is the crucial element that newer brands need to figure out to gain the sales and traction they need. For instance, for the longest time I tried figuring out how some Youtubers and brands gained traction on Youtube platform. Beyond the marketing strategies, I now believe that there’s a shared core element which we may have underestimated: they made us feel a certain way. Let me explain with this easy exercise!
Recall your top 5 youtube channels where you religiously watch their videos. Now tell me how your favorite channels made you feel? Here’s how I answered this question:
- LeendaDProductions produces relatable sketches infused with humor. Her videos make me feel happy, refreshed, and when I need a little pick-me-up from a stressful day.
- Andrew Koz and Jade Darmawangsa‘s channels produce useful tips on Instagram growth and business from a young entrepreneur perspective. Their videos keep me motivated to hustle, to work harder, and get inspired by their energy. Even if you are a lot more older or established, you can find value from this. Perspective.
- Buzzfeed Challenges/Worth It videos inspire my curiosity because they try stuff that I wouldn’t normally do. I want to see their results – so the videos make me feel entertained. It is a good form of escapism.
